Owner Operator Instructions

Company Driver Instructions

Does your paycheck never quite matches what you expected to make? Then our Ready, Set, Truck! Miles to Money Calculator™ is the tool you need to see your money before you drive the miles.

Whether you want to know what next week’s paycheck might look like or break down the miles you’ve already ran, this tool shows how every mile, bonus, and accessorial adds up to your total pay.

It’s built to help you plan smarter, set income goals, and take control of your checks before payroll even drops.

What each field means:

Paid Miles

  • This is how many miles your company pays you for.
  • If they pay for both loaded and empty miles, put that full number here.
  • If not, just put your paid miles.

Pay Per Mile ($/mi)

  • How much your company pays you for every mile. For example, if you make 65 cents per mile, type 0.65.

Additional Pay / Bonuses ($)

  • Did you get any stop pay, layover pay, or other bonuses? Add those here, it’ll increase your total pay.

Deductions ($)

  • If you had any money taken out (like advances, cash purchases, or reimbursements you’re waiting on), put that here. It’ll subtract from your final total.

What happens next:

Once you’ve entered everything, click “See Results”.

You’ll see:

  • Gross Base Pay → miles × pay per mile
  • Additional Pay → any bonuses you entered
  • Deductions → money taken out
  • Estimated Gross Pay → what you’ll probably make this period
  • Gross Pay Per Mile → what you actually made for every mile driven

Owner Operator Instructions

If you’ve ever finished a week and thought, “Where did all the money go?” Then our Ready, Set, Truck! Miles to Money Calculator™ is for you.

This tool helps Owner Operators and Lease Purchase Drivers see how much money you really make after fuel, expenses, and other costs.

You’ll see your revenue, fuel, and expenses so you can forecast earnings, compare lanes, or fine-tune your break-even point.

Your Details:

Total Miles

  • The total miles you drove; loaded and empty combined.
  • This tells the calculator how far you went overall.

Deadhead Miles (optional)

  • Empty miles that weren’t paid for. (We use this to figure out how much you lost on fuel for those unpaid miles).

Total Load Pay (optional)

  • How much you made on the load before any deductions from the carrier.
  • If your contract pays you a percentage, use this with the next box.

Percentage of Load Pay (optional)

  • If you get 90% of the load, type “90.” We’ll do the math to show your real pay after your carrier’s cut.

Pay Per Mile (optional)

  • If you’re paid by the mile instead of by load, put your rate here (like 1.90).
  • If you fill this in, you can skip the “Total Load Pay” and “Percentage” boxes.

Fuel Surcharge (optional)
If you’re a driver that is paid a fuel surcharge, use this field to enter your FSC.

  • If it’s per mile, leave button underneath on “Per-mile” and type your rate (like 0.40).
  • If it’s a flat amount, switch the button underneath to “Per-load” and type the total (like 100).

Additional Pay / Bonuses ($)

  • Any extra money you made like stop pay, tarp pay, TONU or detention; add it here.

Estimated MPG
How many miles per gallon your truck usually gets.
You can type it in yourself or use the Auto-calc MPG switch to have the calculator figure it out for you.

Auto-calc MPG (toggle)
When ON:

  • Enter your Average Fuel Price first.
  • Then enter either MPG or Gallons, and the calculator fills in the other one.
  • If the average fuel price is missing, it’ll show a red warning until you add it.

Estimated Gallons

  • How many gallons you think you’ll use on this trip.
  • You can type it in or let the calculator estimate it when Auto-calc is ON.

Average Fuel Price ($/gal)

  • How much you’re paying for fuel on average.
  • This is required for fuel cost and MPG math.

Other Expenses ($)

  • Add up your total expenses for the load or loads and add the total amount to this field. Things like broker fees, tarps, tolls, scales, parking, or washouts.
  • These come out of your total profit.
